UTK EF UGA Application

Undergraduate assistant (UGAs) positions in the Engineering Fundamentals Program are available in the following areas.

Study Room

Engineering Fundamentals tutors provide help to students with EF 151 and EF 152 homework and concepts. Tutors work in the Study Room in Perkins and/or the evening sessions in South Carrick. Tutors are expected to be proactive in helping students, and have the ability to ask good questions and explain the concepts. Applicants must be willing to work at least one evening and must have earned at least a B+ in both EF 151 and EF 152.

EF 105

Engineering Fundamentals 105 (EF 105) seeks talented, energetic, and encouraging students to become part the of EF 105 Team as Undergraduate Assistants (UGA’s). UGA’s are expected to assist the instructor and GTA during class lectures, hold help sessions, correspond with students through the discussion board, and attend weekly meetings. Also, UGA’s will assist the Instructor improving various aspects of the students learning experience. UGA’s must be proficient in the Excel and MATLAB topics covered in the course. 10-15 hours may be required per week, including preparation time (prior the lecture). Applicants must have earned at least a B+ in EF 105.

EF 230

Undergraduate Assistants (UGA’s) for EF 230 provide support to the instructors and GTAs and help enhance the student learning experience in the course. UGA's assist the instructor and GTA during scheduled class sections (MWF), hold help sessions, set up and facilitate project work, correspond with students through the discussion board, grade projects, and attend a weekly team meeting. UGA’s are expected to be proactive in helping students, encouraging, and enthusiastic. UGA’s must be proficient in MATLAB topics covered in the course. 10-15 hours may be required per week, including prep time for each lab and preworking assignments. Applicants must have earned at least a B+ in EF 230.

Applications for the Fall semester will be reviewed beginning April 30 and will continue until all positions are filled.
