Welcome to the RISER web page. The Research and Instructional Strategies for Engineering Retention (RISER) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Talent Expansion Program (STEP) award number 1068103. Research investigators are:

The RISER program seeks to increase the retention of two groups:
- Freshmen who do not qualify for the requisite Engineering Fundamentals (EF) education program because their math ACT scores are below 28
- Women honors students
